Jonathan and Calencia both grew up in St. Louis, Missouri.
They currently reside in Houston, TX and plan to start their new life together in a new place in Pearland, TX.
About the Bride:
Calencia is a graduate of Saint Louis University, has traveled abroad, and lived in Spain for one year. She is a member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority Inc. She works as a Pharmaceutical Sales Rep and is currently in school pursuing her MBA.
She loves to salsa dance, enjoys scrapbooking, and taking pictures. She values exercising and has ran in several Texas half marathons. She enjoys fishing, playing board games, and reading personal self development books. She loves her family very much and looks forward having children of her own. Her favorite shows are 24 and Grey’s Anatomy.
About the Groom:
Jonathan is a veteran, was in the military and in the Persian Gulf War. He has traveled around the world twice. He has a college degree from Tennessee State University and currently works at Vision Products company. Jonathan played professional indoor football for 3 years and currently coaches little league football in Houston. He loves working with young people. He enjoys fitness and working out and hopes someday to start his own wellness company.
Jonathan loves his parents and grandmother. He also values taking advice from elderly people. He likes to live a full peaceful life. Jonathan looks forward to marrying Calencia and having a family in the future.
Activities we have done together and enjoy doing:
Apple picking, Working Out, Traveling on road trips, Playing Board Games, Singing songs, Gardening plants. They enjoy going to the theatre together and watching comedies & action movies.
Calencia starting cooking for Jon and he was in love once he realized how well she could cook.
What drew Jon close to Calencia was her eyes. He was able to tell a lot about her -- that she was kind, loving and had a soft spirit.
Calencia was impressed with Jon’s sweet heart and his ability to draw beautiful pictures for her and sing songs to her.
We go to church together every Sunday.
Jonathan and Calencia meet at a 24 hour fitness gym in St. Louis, Missouri. What started as a friendly workout session turned into an endless love story. The two became good friends and Calencia really knew Jon liked her when she attended his younger brother’s wedding and meet his family. Our First Date was to a movie in St. Louis and I cooked for Jonathan at my place. Our dating anniversary is actually Nov. 7th, so it is a dream come true that we are actually getting married on this date.
How we got engaged:
Jonathan proposed to Calencia at a park here in Houston. They were taking a stroll together down the trail and the sun was about to set in the distance. Jonathan talked to Calencia about how much he loved her and appreciated her. They stopped at a swing nearby and Jonathan looked into Calencia’s eyes and sang to her “you light up my life”. Calencia was so touched and surprised. A single tear fell down her face, as Jonathan preceded to get on one knee and ask for her hand in marriage. The deal was sealed when Jonathan presented the engagement ring and Calencia said yes. Both in high emotional excitement embraced each other and Jonathan lifted Calencia in the air, thrilled about what was to come with Calencia as his bride-to-be.
